What is phytoplankton?
Phytoplankton, also called microalgae, is a mix of small primitive aquatic plants which can be found in ocean, just like tiny seaweeds. Most of them float freely and are on the base of the food chain of larger animals.
What are this product main ingredients?
Blend of microalgae Nannochloropsis sp. (45%), Tetraselmis sp. (45%), and Isochrysis sp. (10%) at a freeze-dried state.
No additives nor preservatives have been added to product.
Why use a mix of algae?
Each one of the three microalgae used in this mixture was carefully choose to cover the needs of your reef aquarium. Tetraselmis is a major source of essential vitamins and amino acids, Nannochloropsis has a high EPA content and Isochrysis is the premium source of DHA and vitamin C. Blend was formulated considering different polyp sizes of corals and all filter filters reef inhabitants. Why use just one microalgae, when you can enjoy the benefits of three?
How can I calculate the PhytoBloom Reef Feed dosage I need?
Why should I feed my Reef population with this?
Having a reef aquarium is a challenging task, andsome corals are hard to keep. Ever wondered why your reef lacks colour? The answer might be simpler than you imagine: wrong type of food. Some corals just need real phytoplankton to thrive and be at their finest. Why don't you give our Reef Feed a try?
Does this help my aquarium?
There are several types of corals, and as other animals, each type as a specific nutritional requirement. However, all corals need phytoplankton – soft corals as principal nutrition and hard corals as treat. As soon as you start providing phytoplankton, polyp extension enhancement will be noticeable. Even though corals grow very slowly, an improvement of nutrition will result on a faster coral growth after several months of use. Apart from corals, other filter feeders reef inhabitants – clams, crinoids, tunicates – also need phytoplankton to thrive.
Phytoplankton used in PhytoBloom Reef Feed is carefully aquacultured as nitrate and phosphate levels are controlled along cultivation. No nitrate and phosphate are to be found on final product; therefore adding this productto your reef tank is 100% safe.
Keep in mind that overfeeding is as harmful as underfeeding. For your reef community to be at their healthiest level, you need to dose properly phytoplankton feed.
What is freeze-drying?
Freeze-drying is a dehydration process typically applied in food industry, like instant coffee or powdered milk. Process extends product’s shelf-life. Process of freeze-drying works as follows: a strong vacuum will force water from frozen phytoplankton to turn from ice directly into vapor, allowing full dehydration of product while biochemical composition remains unaltered.
