- Mix 0,5g (1/4 teaspoon) of feed in 1L seawater in a disposable bottle, and shake it very well;
- After shaking, add daily 73mL to culture;
- Keep bottle in the fridge, and use it no longer than 1 week.

What is phytoplankton?
Phytoplankton, also called microalgae, is a mix of small primitive aquatic plants which can be found in ocean, just like tiny seaweeds. Most of them float freely and are on the base of the food chain of larger animals.
What are this product main ingredients?

This is a medium size green microalga (4-8µm). Perfect for copepods! Copepods usually feed by generating water currents with their appendages, which pushes phytoplankton against their mouth. Copepods are really picky in their food choices, so you must feed them with phytoplankton with adequate size, taste and nutritional value that they need, or culture might crash.
Being an exceptional source of EPA, ARA, ALA and others essential fatty acids, and with a good vitamins profile: A, B1, B2, B6, C, E, Tetraselmis becomes the best choice for your copepod culture. It is also a great source of amino acids and pigments.

Copepods are a group of small sea crustaceans that constitute zooplankton. They are really active animals that look like they are “hopping” in the water column. Don’t despair if you can’t see them, they are only visible when in adult stage… and even then are hard to see.
Copepods are really sensitive animals that have to be grown under the best conditions possible. Like other zooplankton, copepod must be feed daily with phytoplankton. They are really messy and spoil water quickly, so, daily, siphon the bottom and remove circa 10% of the total volume. Replace that 10% with new saltwater and feed. As they grow and develop, copepod go through different life-cycle stages, divided into three main stages: nauplii, copepodite and adult copepod. Each stage is separated from the next by a molt. Molting involves growing a new larger exoskeleton and shedding the old one. When in optimal growth conditions, copepod can reach adult stage in 10 days.
